Biography

Ombretta Del Monte was born and lives in Civitavecchia.

 

She attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.

From a young age, she began exhibiting her first figurative artworks in various cities.

She specializes in trompe l'oeil frescoes on walls and wood. In addition to her passion for painting, she also developed a love for writing and started collaborating with various national newspapers and magazines, focusing on culture and entertainment.

 

Since 2006, she has been writing theatrical scripts and poetry. Several of her poems have been included in the volume "Encyclopedia of Contemporary Poets" published by Aletti Editore in 2009.

 

In 2009, she published her autobiographical book "Tra Sabbia e Sassi" ("Between Sand and Stones"), edited by "Arduino Sacco Editore" in Rome. The book is set in the 1970s in the historic neighborhood of "Ghetto" and tells the story of the author's family in Civitavecchia, as well as the social and political events of that time.

The book has been presented in several Italian cities and in November 2010, it was selected to become part of the archives of the "National Diaristic Foundation" in Pieve Santo Stefano, Arezzo province, also known as the "City of Diaries."

Currently, the second edition of the book is being promoted by PAV Publishing House. Ombretta Del Monte has also contributed to various editorial projects focusing on art and scientific history.

 

In March 2013, she created and presented her first collection of poems, illustrated with photographs and paintings that she created herself.

She has always been involved in social and cultural volunteering. She collaborates with various film festivals, including ITFF (Italian Film and Television Festival) and the Santa Marinella Short Film Festival. Since 2014, she has been the President of the Historical Committee for the Patron Saint Celebrations in Civitavecchia. This organization aims to promote the local area and honor the patron saint, Fermina, through a series of cultural and sporting events.

In June 2013, she participated with two paintings in the 55th edition of the Venice Biennale, held at the Museum of Italian Contemporary Art in America. The exhibition took place at Palazzo Merati d'Audiffret de Greoux, a historic palace in the Venetian circuit where Giacomo Casanova and his family lived. The Museum of Italian Contemporary Art in America (M.A.C.I.A.) was endorsed by the Emblem of the Italian Republic, the sponsorship of the Embassy of the Republic of Costa Rica at the Quirinal Palace, the M.A.C.I.A. logo, and the inclusion of the catalog in the editorial series of the Museum of Italian Contemporary Art in America.

 

In August 2013, she received an honorable mention at the Luana Raia International Award 2013, held at the Amstel Art Gallery in Saint Georges Warf, located along the Thames River in the heart of the city.

 

She participated in The-SYMPOSIUM 2013 in Milan with the theme "I AM DIFFERENT," an international exhibition dedicated to human diversity in terms of disabilities, religion, race, etc. The event was endorsed by the Municipality of Milan and six Consulates General in Milan. Her awarded artwork was titled "Christ, Mary, and Magdalene."

On October 26th, she received the Artist of the Year 2013 award at the Premio Penisola Sorrentina, along with renowned personalities such as Lina Sastri, Ugo Pagliai, Regina Schrecker, Alexia, and Christian De Sica. The event was sponsored by the Senate of the Republic and the Tourism Department of the Campania Region.

 

On November 16, 2013, she participated in the Biennale of Lecce and had publications in the specialized magazine Euro Arte.

 

On November 18, 2013, she received an award in Monte Carlo for the artwork "Pensiero Proibito" (Forbidden Thought).

On December 14, 2013, she participated in the exhibition "Cinema Fashion" at the "Il Trittico" Gallery in Rome.

 

On February 22, she participated in the International Rock Exhibition at the PAN in Naples with five artworks dedicated to rock icons. The exhibition, sponsored by the Municipality of Naples, the American Consulate, and the British Consulate, was organized by Professor and Journalist Michelangelo Iossa and

Journalist Carmine Aymone. The event had special guests such as Lello Arena, Eric Clapton, Nino Buonocore, Marina Lante della Rovere, and many other internationally renowned musicians.

 

From March 2 to March 30, she had an exhibition at Milano Café (Milan) dedicated to the faces of cinema.

On March 3, she donated an artwork to His Holiness Pope Francis as part of a traveling exhibition project dedicated to Pope Roncalli and Wojtyla, as well as the Popes of the last 100 years.

On April 3, 2014, she received honorary recognitions from the Accademia Costantina and Norman Accademy in Rome.

On April 15, she gave a radio interview to RADIO VATICANA about the artwork she donated to Pope Francis.

From April 15 to April 20, 2014, she participated in the exhibition "I PERCORSI DELL'ARTE" with the patronage of the Municipality of S.MARINELLA and received a diploma as "MAESTRO D'ARTE" from the Accademia Costantina.

From May 23 to June 23, 2014, she had a solo exhibition titled "I NUOVI SPAZI DELL'ARTE" at Deutsche Bank in Civitavecchia. From June 1 to June 15, 2014, she participated in the exhibition "Aspettando la Biennale" in Milan.

 

From June 20 to July 6, she organized and promoted the first itinerant exhibition of sacred art titled "ARS ET HUMANITAS" at the Museo Diocesano "Francesco Gonzaga" in Mantua. The event had institutional patronages from the Municipality of Mantua, the Embassy of Costa Rica at the Holy See, the Argentine Embassy in Italy, the Honorary Consulate of Costa Rica in Venice, the International Diplomatic Institute, and the Honorary Embassy of Santo Domingo for Relations with the European Union and Latin American Countries and Organizations. She also gave an interview to Radio Vaticana for the exhibition Ars et Humanitas.

 

On August 26, 2014, she participated in the Gran Galà Lagonegro 2014 with Barbara De Rossi, Stelvio Cipriani, and Tosca.

On October 3, 2014, she participated in the International Exhibition "Arti set Urbis" in Rome.

 

On November 21, 2014, Ombretta Del Monte from Civitavecchia was included in the seventh collection titled "Occhi" (Eyes), under the photography of the great master Bruno Oliviero. The book, presented at Gilda in Rome during a VIP party, is available for free online viewing and can be ordered online. The renowned photographer of celebrities opens up to the internet, sharing his best shots with the world. Del Monte expressed her surprise and gratitude for being included in a photographic collection where true icons of international beauty and fashion personalities like Giorgio Armani, Sophia Loren, Monica Bellucci, Claudia Cardinale, and many others are represented.

 

Over a hundred shots are featured in the book, a series of images capturing famous divas and stars from the past, present, and future, which Oliviero presents in their utmost expressiveness and beauty. From his studio, they have all passed through, from Loren to Campbell, from Madonna to Marcuzzi, from Sordi to Montezemolo. And he has immortalized them all, capturing their uniqueness and originality.

 

December 3, 2014 - Rome - Award ceremony at the Christmas Concert directed by Andrea Bocelli, "La Carezza Del Papa." The event was organized by Count Arnaldo Blancardi.

 

Ombretta Del Monte received a medal with the effigy of Pope Roncalli and a rosary blessed by Pope Francis from Monsignor Formenti of the Vatican Secretariat of State. The Order of Malta presented the artist with a scroll of artistic and humanitarian merit.

 

December 18, 2014 - Solo exhibition "Wonder in The Mirror" at Tacco 11 American Bar in Spinea-Venice, a venue owned by the Pellegrini family, who hosted the artist's exhibition. A tribute to beauty and, in particular, a portrait of the swimming champion Federica Pellegrini.

 

March 8, 2015 - Guest of honor and award at the painting exhibition "D'arte, D'amore, Donna" at Forte Sangallo in Nettuno.

 

April 8, 2015 - Participation with a portrait dedicated to Bergman at the photographic exhibition at Casa del Cinema in Rome on the occasion of Ingrid Bergman's centenary birth.

April 20, 2015 - Group exhibition at Galleria Angelica in Rome.

May 23 - June 5 - Solo exhibition "Art And His Friends" at Forte Michelangelo in Civitavecchia, Centro Storico Culturale Capitanerie di Porto.

July 20, 2015 - Creator of two marble plaques on the occasion of the National Celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Corps of Port Captaincies-Coast Guard. The dedications are placed in the gardens in front of Forte Michelangelo in Civitavecchia.

From November 2015 to January 2016 - Exhibition in London at LA DAME ART GALLERY.

 

December 21, 2015 - Speaker on the topic of Environmental Art at the Conference of the Azzurro Movement. Press Room - Palazzo Chigi.

March 21, 2016 - 3rd Edition Anna Magnani Award at Casa del Cinema in Rome. Reproduction of the artwork "Esuberante Anna!" presented as an award to Giancarlo Giannini, Lina Sastri, Valeria Golino, and Gianni Togni.

 

4th-12th May 2016: Solo exhibition at the Church of San Giovanni di Dio, Civitavecchia.

28th September 2016: Creator of the International Tour Film Festival Award.

16th-26th September 2017: Solo exhibition at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa.

4th-8th October: Creator of the Traiano Award artwork for the ITFF (film festival).

28th October 2017: Winner of the International Competition "La Finestra Eterea" at Palazzo Ghirlanda, Cinisello Balsamo, Milan, in the painting, prose, and poetry categories.

20th January 2018: Two artworks recognized with archiving certificates by critic Vittorio Sgarbi.

 

27th April 2018: Creator of the artwork "Il Maschio nel Volo delle Vele" for promotional material and book cover of the conference: "La riforma del nuovo codice nautica da diporto" at the Maritime Authority-Guardia Costiera.

17th May 2018: Solo exhibition as part of the 121st anniversary celebrations of the Port Company of Civitavecchia.

 

24th-30th May 2018: Organizer of the collective exhibition "40 artists for the oncological hospice," a charity initiative supporting a facility that provides care for terminal cancer patients. The artists donated artworks to decorate the hospital. Artistic direction at the Santa Marinella Film Fest in June-July 2018.

9th-10th August: Participation in the UCAI artistic collective at the Dostoevsky Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, and speaker at the Russia-Italy intercultural forum "La creatività un mondo senza confini" at the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg – Peter and Paul Fortress.

11th October 2018: Intervention at the N.Iotti Hall of the Chamber of Deputies for the seminar: "Ragionare sul futuro dell'Italia. Ruolo e contributo delle giovani generazioni degli italiani nati all'estero" (Reflecting on the future of Italy: The role and contribution of the young generations of Italians born abroad).

27th October 2018: Collective exhibition "Cento Anni dalla fine della Grande Guerra" (One Hundred Years Since the End of the Great War) at Cittadella della Musica, Civitavecchia.

24th November 2018: Collective exhibition "Arteinsieme" at Cittadella della Musica, Civitavecchia.

23rd February 2019: Palazzo dei Congressi, Florence - Tourisma event. Speaker at the conference: "1607: L'arte di Caravaggio a Malta" (1607: Caravaggio's Art in Malta).

17th-26th August 2019: Plein air exhibition in Trzbenica, Poland.

29th September 2019: Artistic direction and donation of artworks for the cultural event of the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Guard) celebrating the 70th anniversary of the naval station in Civitavecchia, Caserma G. Bruzzesi.

8th-9th November 2019: Guest at the intercultural forum for social inclusion: "La creatività: un Mondo senza Confini" (Creativity: A World without Boundaries) at the Museum of the Orient in Majkop, Republic of Adygea, Russia.

 

August and September 2020: Presenter and critical introduction to the songs of the Divine Comedy in the theatrical project "Incontri con Dante" (Encounters with Dante), adapted and directed by Agostino De Angelis. The show was sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MIBACT) during the European Heritage Days.
